Tri Delta alumna and volunteer Dana Bekurs, Louisiana/Lafayette, has over 25 years of higher education experience, specifically with first-year students and parents. She offers a look at parents of college students today and what to expect and plan for when a student begins collegiate life. This first year of college provides challenges, successes and change for the student and the parent. Students find independence, learn balance and explore new opportunities. It's important to learn how to support your student – while not doing everything for them! Parents must learn to manage their own expectations when it comes to challenges their child may face.
